If today is the first time you have ever seen the term “Green Monday” before, you are not alone. This is another one of our corporate pseudo-holidays that are used to prime us to spend some cash. Well, being the tech geeks that we are, Smart Armor Tech will always oblige a new excuse…er, I mean reason to buy some new tech.
The term Green Monday was coined by eBay in honor of its best day of sales in December. It happened on the second Monday in the month and ever since then, that day has been celebrated with certain online shopping sites creating special deals. The special shopping day is very new but it is gaining awareness. In 2014, Green Monday online sales netted a total of $1.6 billion, almost half of Cyber Monday of the same year!

While this shopping day may be new to you, it is not new to your favorite stores. The brick and mortar shopping giants like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Kmart, and Macys all have some special sales and promotions for Green Monday 2016. Best Buy in particular is offering deals all week long in honor of Green Monday but today is the day to get the very best Green Monday has to offer. This 70 inch 4k tv from Vizio for $899.99 is looking like the sweetest Green Monday deal ever.

Green Monday is already the third highest grossing shopping day of the year in America (Cyber Monday is still second). Who knows how large it can be. If the deals keep getting better and the number of hot new must-have gadgets and accessories to those new gadgets keeps increasing, we may see Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Green Monday morph into one long period of sales. Amazon is already dipping its toe into that with the way it approaches Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Amazon Prime members were recently treated to several days of sales leading up to the big days. Each day brought new items that you didn’t know you needed!
